The Barrel & Baskit team is so excited to begin the opening process after the absolutely AMAZING renovation wraps up on this community’s treasured landmark. The building is sparkling inside and out and is ready to be your store for:

-Butter, milk, and last-minute groceries,

-Breakfast and lunchtime sandwiches,

-Delicious dinners made with Local Baskit’s meal kits,

-A candy counter and Brother’s Donuts,

-An award-winning beer selection,

-A Sunday (or daily) newspaper,

-Community events from kids craft to wine tastings,

-Coffee and scones,

-And marinated steak tips and lemon pepper chicken.

But most importantly, my vision as your store operator is to create the community hub that a small town corner store should be: convenient, friendly, clean, and well-loved, where I know your kids’ birthdays, our kitchen makes your sandwich just how you like it, and we always listen to your feedback and maybe even a bad joke or two. I do not have enough words to describe the joy and deep honor I feel to own and operate Barrel & Baskit and be a part of the history of a continuously operating store for over two centuries. And there are even fewer words to describe the awe and inspiration I feel every day for Anna and Dulcie, who saw the potential of this building every step of the way. They work harder and smarter than anyone I know and with the most sincere and kind hearts. They have given this building new life and made our dreams come true, which the Barrel & Baskit team will honor each of the 362 days a year we will be OPEN for years to come!

OPENING DETAILS

PREVIEW DAYS: With the lightening fast renovation and a brand new point of sale system, we need some time to fill the store, test our operations, and allow staff to get comfortable with a new kitchen, new products, and new cash register. We would like to invite you inside over the next few days for some “preview days” to check things out, meet the staff, and even buy a few things as we gradually get fully stocked over the coming weeks. This week (starting June 14):

  • TODAY (WEDNESDAY, 6/14) - 3pm to 7pm … beer, milk, a few grocery items

  • THURSDAY, 6/15 - 3pm to 7pm … more grocery items arrive

  • FRIDAY, 6/16 - 3pm to 7pm … wine and grilling propane arrives

We will be closed over the weekend to celebrate Beth’s youngest son's high school graduation! Next week (starting June 19):

  • MONDAY, 6/19 - 1pm to 7pm … newspapers arrive

  • TUESDAY, 6/20 - 12noon to 7pm … kitchen warms up and coffee starts brewing

  • WEDNESDAY, 6/21 - 6:30am to 7pm … regular hours from this point forward

Through the end of June we will continue to learn, listen, tweak, and improve. Our staff team is a little nervous about learning all of the new systems and products - for many this will be their first job experience - but I assured them that our customers will be patient and kind.

GRAND OPENING EVENT FRIDAY, JUNE 23rd - 3pm to 6 pm

Stop in to visit with home-town brewers and our friends from Concord Craft, taste a few of Beth's other favorite beers, and meet Ambra from Crush Wines. Everyone will be pouring some of your favorite beers and wines to start the summer off right - Sip of Sunshine, Summer Water, Safe Space - as well as new brews and wines that are fun to try! We will also have cheeses, salads, and snacks from our selection to try and taste!
